Leah is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has worked in behavioral health settings for over ten years and has been with Brighter Future Counseling Services since 2016. Leah has a Master of Social Work from Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas and Bachelor of Social Work from Northwestern State University in Louisiana. Leah has worked in a variety of behavioral health settings including outpatient settings (clinic and community based), inpatient setting (behavioral health hospital), school based, group therapy, crisis intervention, as well as case management. Leah’s clinical approach stems from the ecological systems approach, and she believes in working with a client’s entire system (individual, family, and community) to help achieve needed changes to improve mental health. Leah was trained as an Advanced Generalist Practitioner and believes in a wide variety of treatment modalities, based on individual needs. Leah is currently working on certification in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), which is an evidenced based program to treat children who have experienced trauma.
